Good News at their fingertips
Compass Braille has been transcribing and producing Braille Bibles in various languages since 1990. Initially Compass Braille worked on the transcription of Indian languages. As technology has progressed and our expertise has grown we have been able to achieve so much more than the original goal of completing 11 Indian languages. We now produce in 40 languages and the number is still rising - adding two or three new languages each year. Our Braille is despatched to 120 destinations worldwide to various parts of Asia, Africa, Oceania and Europe. We also produce giant print.
The transcription and production of Braille and the production of giant print is specifically for the use of indigenous groups around the world who work among Visually Impaired People (VIP). The groups we partner distribute our Braille and giant print and also use our materials for their specific VIP programmes. They also offer education, vocational training and self-employment opportunities as well as having facilities such as hostels, drop in centres, Braille libraries and counselling. Some of the groups also run summer camps for visually impaired adults and children from varying backgrounds where they can share in new experiences along with sighted people.
Materials for projects run by these partner groups are transcribed, produced and despatched by Compass Braille. Orders for Braille come to us via organisations that work among the visually impaired in overseas situations, or from mission organisations that either produce or use Bibles and Christian literature within their programmes. Because our products are computer generated we are able to produce large or small quantities of Braille and giant print according to requirements.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our Braille and giant print and use only good quality materials such as long lasting spiral bindings and, by and large, laminated covers for durability.
Our policy is to offer EQUAL ACCESS to visually impaired people, wherever possible, and to this end we are always looking for new opportunities. If your organisation produces Christian literature or operates overseas programmes that use printed materials, perhaps you could consider whether or not your materials are equally available to visually impaired people. We can help you do this - so if you would like to discuss the possibilities, please contact us:-
